Origins

PlyCamp traces its roots back to the summer 2024 when I, Johan Borbye, built a sleeping platform for my then newly acquired Tesla in my dad's garage. 

The intention was simple; Sleeping in the back of a Tesla is not ideal due to the seats not folding flat. So why not make a new subfloor out of plywood and get additional storage space to boot? The resulting platform was of immediate practical value to me and it became a natural extension of my car.  

A year later I was lucky to meet the great people at Tischlerei Eigenstetter - a German woodworking shop of ~20 people located near Lübeck - and the idea to make a real product out of my prototype came to fruition. We had high standards, but after many prototypes and lots of testing, we finally arrived at a product that we felt was great.
